Heading

Social media is like a giant playground where you can connect, share, learn about the world and have some fun. But, just like any playground, it has its ups and downs. In this article, we are going to show you the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY side of social media, and, what SurfSideSafe is doing to improve this for everyone.

Social Media: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Good

Connecting with friends

You can chat, share pics, and stay in touch with people near and far. Thanks to social media, people are finally able to do something that they couldn't do for many years.

Learning new things

There's a ton of info out there, from science facts to DIY projects.

Social Media: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

By the way, don't forget, YouTube is a social media site. There you can find all kinds of information that you could find only in a college class room before social media entered our lives.

Much of the information you can find on YouTube is priceless!

Finding your people

You can connect with others who share your interests.

Before there was social media, this was impossible. Now, you can do it very easily because you have the ability right at your finger tips!

The Bad

Cyberbullying

Mean people can be really hurtful online. And, the worst part about is, they don't care. They figure, "Well, no one will ever know who I am, so I think I'll have a little fun.

There's nothing fun or funny about cyberbullying. We take this very seriously, This is something that MUST be stopped on social media, and immediately.

Fake news

Not knowing what, or what not to believe is very frustrating. And it's very sad that a lot of this is happening on social media.

Fake news and misinformation has been going on for years. Unfortunately, it has reached a point where it has gotten out of hand.

Addiction

Spending too much time on your phone can mess with your sleep and schoolwork. It can also keep you from getting a lot of things done that are very important to your life.

Feeling bad about yourself

Comparing your life to others' is a problem, but it really should't be. People have the misleading thought that other people's lives are better. But let me assure, what you see is not necessarily what it is. Your life is just as good as anyone's life, and possibly, better.

The Ugly

Privacy

Sharing too much personal info can be risky. But it goes a lot farther than this.

All social media platforms need is your name and email, and Wallah! To many platforms, this information is a gold mine because they are sharing it with the big advertisers and making a fortune. That's NOT what social media is supposed to be about. In the beginning, it was not like this, but greed has taken over.

NOT HERE !!!

At SurfSideSafe, we're all about passion. And when you're passionate about something, the money will come.

If you ever start a business, remember this!

Mental health

Some people get really stressed or depressed from social media. That's not good. Social media is supposed to be a place to enjoy yourself, and as long as we are around, we're going to make sure this is what you do.

What Can SurfSideSafe Do?

Be kind

Treat others online the way you want to be treated.

In a previous article, we have made it very clear that no user will hurt another user. We not only take your privacy very seriously, but also, your well-being.

Be smart

Think before you post and be careful about what info you share. We have published tons of articles on the right way to post on social media. All of these articles were created for one reason - Your enjoyment.

Take breaks

Taking a break from social media does not mean you have to give it up completely. Sometimes it's a good idea to step away from your smart phone for a few days and do something active. Then, when you come back, you will have a new outlook and will be refreshed.

Be real

Remember, you are an individual. No other person's life is like yours. Don't compare yourself yourself with others.

Be Yourself! Be Real!. If you do this, your social media experience will be the best it can possibly be.

Talk it out

If you're feeling stressed or upset, talk to a trusted adult or friend. Or, even better, talk to us!

We're not just running a social media platform. It is our duty and responsibility to provide a platform that you'll be proud to be a member of.

If you ever have a problem with anything, NEVER be shy. Contact us, and let us know, and if there's a problem, we will fix it immediately!

That's what we're here for!

Social media can be a fun and useful tool, but it's important to use it wisely. And we're going to do everything possible to make sure you can do this, and have a positive experience. You can take this to the bank!

I've never said this, but a lot of love went into the creation of SurfSideSafe. This is our passion, and we love every minute of it. And it is our responsibility to make it your passion.
