Here's a Classic Example

Build Suspense.

Use an image with a Stay Tuned, Find Out More, or Prepare to be Amazed graphic, and perhaps with a blurry or partially revealed object.

This is straight forward and to the point. It will give your readers the feeling that something very important is about to take place.

1. Start with a Hook

Immediately, you want to GRAB people's attention. Once you do this, you've got them hooked, and they are going nowhere.

The start of your story is super important. It needs to catch people's attention quickly.

Think of it like a movie trailer that makes you want to watch the movie. And, you're not going to rest until you do. That's exactly what you want to do with your audience.

You could begin with something surprising, a question, or an interesting fact. Here's an example:

What if your phone could fully charge in just 10 minutes?

Talk about a new and unusual gadget. Start with the heading above and say something like, “Sounds cool, right?”

Use a straightforward image showing a quote or message in simple language. This could be a graphic with a short, clear sentence like “This gadget is really cool!”

This will immediately grab people. They would love to know how to do this. And, not only will you be telling a good story, but you will also solve a problem that many people may not think they have, but will suddenly know they have after they read your story.

Your audience will LOVE IT!

2. Make it Personal

Talk to the people who read your stories like you're hanging out with them. Remember, they are your buddies. You are not lecturing them. You're entertaining them.

Share your own experiences, or stories about people you know. I'm sure you have accumulated a lot of experiences like this over the years.

This makes your post more relatable. Here' an example:

Did anything unusual happen while on your vacation?

Have you gone on a fun, exciting and exotic vacation recently?

Did some wild, crazy, fun, or unusual things happen while on this vacation?

Tell a funny story that happened to you and why it made the trip special.

People will eat it up! They will also appreciate your sharing this with them, and they will show their appreciation with likes and shares.

3. Use Simple Language

As a general rule, always write your post on the 8th grade level. This way, anyone can enjoy it, no matter what their education level.

Keep your language easy to understand. Don't use complicated words that might confuse people. Instead, use clear and simple words. For example, instead of saying, “The product has excellent features,” you could say, “The product has some really cool features.”

Talk to people as you would talk to them in a face to face conversation.

This is not rocket science. You're not educating people. You are doing this so you and your readers can have some fun. Otherwise, what's the point?

4. Add Visuals

Pictures and videos can make your story more interesting.

This is what people like. If you just post text, probably one out of every 20 people will read it. Nobody likes to read anymore, but with pictures and videos, it's a whole new ball game.

Pictures and videos help to show what you're talking about and catch people's eyes. Here's another example:

Talk about a new recipe

With a post like this, you have to have a photo or video.

Add a photo of the dish or a short video on how to make it.

This will make your story stand out and keep people interested.

By the way, there are also recipes for drinks. With this being said, here's a short and sweet cocktail recipe on the left!

5. Build Suspense

This will keep people on the edge of their seats.

Share enough to make them interested, but save the best parts for later. For example, if you're talking about a big surprise, you might say, “Stay tuned to find out what happens next!”

See the example at the top of this article.

6. Keep it Short and Sweet

Social media is about quick reads. Make your story short and to the point.

Avoid long paragraphs. You're not writing a blog post.

Instead, use short sentences and paragraphs to make your post easy to read. For example, instead of writing a long explanation, use short, punchy sentences. Make them catchy if you can.

7. End with a Call to Action

At the end of your story, tell your readers to so something. This is known as a call to action.

It could be asking them to like your post, share it, or visit a website.

For example, if you're talking about a new book you love, or an interesting video you saw on YouTube, you might end with, “Check this out and let me know what you think!”, followed by a link.

8. Be Authentic

Finally, be yourself. This means being real and honest.

People like stories from real people. Share your true feelings and experiences. If you're excited about something, let that excitement show in your post.
