I don't know about the rest of you, but I've had just about ENOUGH of this hot weather! 😂 I hear we're finally supposed to get some cooler temperatures this weekend, and I'm ready! There's something about the first

I decided to make something from an old family recipe today, and I was reminded of something my mother used to tell me. "Honey, some things just can't be rushed." 🖤⃝🦋 Well, I got impatient, turned the heat up

Actually, I do have a recipe like that. I love to cook whole mushrooms in a cast iron skillet with just two ingredients - a stick of butter and three quarters cup of red wine. I just let them simmer. The problem is, this recipe seems like it takes forever to cook. But it's worth the wait, because they're delicious. 🍄‍🟫

The first time I made spaghetti sauce (suga), a very long time ago, I thought I was in 'never never land'. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, and was just praying that I was doing it right. But it did turn out all right, at least, for my first time. Since then, I've done it so many times that I can now do it in my sleep.

If you want a recipe that will drive you crazy, I'll give you one - Homemade 'ricotta' (pronounced, ri-go-tha). It's easy to make, but you must have the patience of Job. All you do is put a gallon of milk, a quart of buttermilk, a quart of water, and a pinch of salt and sugar in a pot, boil it very slowly, and just skim off the fat from the top and put it in a tea strainer. DO NOT scorch it, or you're screwed. 🧀

I've made ricotta several times, and I have to be honest - I scorched it the first time. If you ever make it, don't throw the leftover liquid away. Use it in other recipes. For example, you can add it to biscuits, or boin spaghetti and rice in it. It makes the recipes a lot more delicious. But there is one drawback - It looks 'yucky'.

Every year during the Holiday Season, I make Italian fig cookies, and it takes about 4 days to make them. When I mix the figs, I let them sit in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 days. And when I make the dough, I let it sit overnight. These things make a huge difference. 🌰

Does anybody remember lying in bed at night with a little transistor radio beside you, trying to pick up a station from some faraway city? There was something almost magical about hearing a voice coming through all that static. 📻💗⃝🌕

I remember when getting a photograph developed was an adventure. 📷

You'd take your film to the store, wait a few days, and hope at least half the pictures turned out!

And there was always that one picture where somebody had their eyes closed. 😂

Funny how something so simple could be so exciting.

One is the fireplace mantle from the movie set, and the other is the fireplace mantle from the actual expedition. Can you tell the difference? #Titanic
