When I was a kid, I thought grown-ups knew EVERYTHING. 😂

Now that I'm grown, I've discovered something.
Half the time, those grown-ups were probably just making it up as they went along! 🤣
And the older I get, the more I realize I'm doing the same thing.
Anybody else remember something your parents told you that you believed for YEARS? 😂
Reply by Jack Robbins About 8 day(s) ago I remember hearing grown-ups do nothing but whine and complain about their aches and pains. After hearing it so many times, I thought, "Damn! I don't think I want to grow up."
Reply by Charlie Mundi About 8 day(s) ago Jack brought up something very memorable.
I used to hear the same thing from grown-ups. Here are some classics:
"OHHHH! My leg is hurting...", "This indigestion is about to kill me...", "You know, I'm nothing but an old wreck."
Then, I started thinking, "Am I going to have these aches and pains when I grow up?"
Well, I'd like to think, I'm all grown-up, and I REFUSE to have those aches and pains. And you know what? I've never felt better.
Reply by Ricky Robbins About 8 day(s) ago I had two Grandfathers who I remember very well. The one on my Mother's side was my best friend. The other one, on my Dad's side was a bastard. He was always criticizing me for no reason. Nothing I could do would ever please him. But my Dad told me, "You better respect your Grandfather!", meaning his Dad. After a while, it dawned on me: "WHY????" And believe it or not, this story took an unexpected turn. My Dad began to notice how I was treated by his Father, and finally looked him in the eye and said, "Daddy, Leave Ricky Alone!!!" The old man never spoke to me again.
Reply by Jack Oden About 8 day(s) ago It's a good think he wasn't my grandfather. I would have whipped his ass.
Reply by BillieMax Clements About 8 day(s) ago I loved both my parents very much. However, like all parents, they were not perfect. As I get older, I try not to do some things my parents did, that I disagreed with.
Reply by Kenneth Cole About 8 day(s) ago I remember growing up with a dilema. My Dad always talked about how sick he was. When my Mother suggested that he go to the Doctor, his response was always, "Naaa! It won't do any good!" Then one day, I asked him, "Daddy, instead of talking about being sick all the time, why don't you talk about being well, and how great it would be?" He kicked me out of the house.
When I was a kid, somebody told me that if I swallowed a watermelon seed, a watermelon would grow in my stomach. 🍉
For about two weeks, every time my stomach made a noise, I figured that thing was getting bigger. 😂
Looking back, I wonder how many ridiculous things we believed just because some grown-up told us they were true. When I was a kid, somebody told me that if I swallowed a watermelon seed, a watermelon would grow in my stomach. 🍉

Reply by Bubba Fisher About 9 day(s) ago Jack, this makes a hell of a lot more sense than what some medical professionals and politicians have claimed - That a man can get pregnant. That's just plain Bull Shit. 🐂💩🐂
Reply by Jack Oden About 9 day(s) ago LMAO 🤣 That watermelon is about to exit the other end.
Reply by Dixie Rose About 9 day(s) ago I've always heard, "Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see", but just to be on the safe side, I don't think I'll be eating any watermelon any time soon.
Reply by Kenneth Cole About 9 day(s) ago LMAO 😱😱 I've heard the same thing about oranges, but watermelons is a first for me. I'd rather have an orange growing inside my stomach than a watermelon.
Reply by Margie Ola About 9 day(s) ago I've never heard of anything like this for watermelons. But when I was a child, my grandfather once told me, "If you eat curly paste, it will come out the same shape as it was when it went in".
Reply by Jack Oden About 9 day(s) ago I believe you Margie. Just don't send me any pictures, LOL
I've learned there are two kinds of problems.
The kind you can do something about, and the kind you can't.
If I can do something about it, I'll handle it.
If I can't, I figure worrying about it ain't gonna fix it anyway.
Some people call that being too laid back.
I call it getting a good night's sleep. 😂I've learned there are two kinds of problems.

Reply by Jack Robbins About 15 day(s) ago Jack, that's a great post. But from one Jack to another, I just can't help thinking, "That's just Jack being Jack".
Reply by Ricky Robbins About 2 year(s) ago Now, if someone can come up with an AI Fay Wray for King Kong to hold in his hand, then they'd be on to something.
Reply by Curt Chance About 2 year(s) ago To the best of my knowledge, there have been 3 King Kong movies - the original and 2 remakes. If they could make an AI King Kong movie, it sure wouldn't be dull.
Reply by Margie Ola About 2 year(s) ago First it's King Kong, and then it's Frankenstein, Wolfman and Dracula. Why not make remakes of all the classic horror movies?

I've followed professional boxing over the years. A lot of the great fighters, I barely remember, but I've seen enough videos to give me a pretty good idea of what some of the great fighters were like. I was never a Larry Holmes fan. But when he started crying after defeating Muhammad Ali, I became a Larry Holmes fan. This was one of the best displays of class I've ever seen from any fighter. #muhammadali#larryholmesI've followed professional boxing over the years. Reply by Roger Duncan About 2 year(s) ago I remember that fight well. Very sad. What impressed me about Larry Holmes in that fight was, he didn't want to hurt Ali. At the end of the fight, he was begging the referee to stop it, and he was barely touching Ali. This was one of the most memorable moments in boxing.
Reply by Jack Robbins About 2 year(s) ago Larry Holmes was a great champion, but he wasn't as flashy as Muhammad Ali. A lot of people didn't like his personality. But he should be considered as one of the great ones.
