Charlie Mundi About 20 day(s) ago Yesterday, I was visiting with my Sister and her Husband. In their front yard, I saw something I don't see every day - a praying mantis. Unlike other insects, seeing a praying mantis can be quite pleasant. I did some research, and found out that they signify good fortune and patience to divine guidance and even spiritual awakening. My sister wanted me to "shoo" it away, but her husband said, "He might not be finished praying". Then I said, "He might be praying for all of us, so I'd better not take any chances."

Reply by Holly Anders About 20 day(s) ago Wow! I've never seen one before, at least, not in person.
Reply by Mae Eisner About 20 day(s) ago You're right. There's something pure about a praying mantis. Now that you've told us what they signify, I'm going to look for one, but I probably won't see one, unless I'm lucky.
Reply by SueAnn Lindley About 20 day(s) ago I've heard they are harmless to people. If they bite, which is very unusual, they are not venomous. And you really have to antagonize one to get it to bite you. But for the most part, they want to be left alone.
Reply by Jack Robbins About 20 day(s) ago Wasps are the same way. Although they're not as pleasant to look at as a praying mantis, they won't bother you if you don't bother them. I've had wasps flying around me a lot over the years, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've been stung.
Reply by Mandy DiAngelo About 20 day(s) ago They're good to have around, because they eat the pesky insects. But they will not bother people, because they just want to go about their business.
Reply by Dixie Rose About 20 day(s) ago This might sound crazy, but I wouldn't mind having a praying mantis in my house. I've always heard it's a good sign.
