James Bond and what almost was

Cary Grant was the first choice to play James Bond after starring in North by Northwest. However, due to his age, he would only commit to one film. Bond producer Albert Broccoli, a good friend of Grant's, wanted him for five movies and negotiations subsequently fell through. After a few other actors were considered, Sean Connery was eventually cast and the rest is history. Here they are together in 1957. #CaryGrant #JamesBond #SeanConnery

I didn't know that. That's interesting. I don't think he would have been as good as Sean Connery. He was not only the best James Bond. He was the only James Bond.

Oh, I agree. Sean was the MAN.

I remember reading somewhere that the original choice for Bond was David Niven. This was the choice made by the author Ian Fleming when he was writing the first books before any film studio began making any choices.
