I have something definitely worth keeping. Not the cake, because it's long gone. I'm talking about the old piece of plywood that the cake is sitting on. This piece of plywood is almost a hundred years old. Every year, during the Holiday Season, my Great Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, her Sister, and now YOURS TRULY, rolled out the Italian fig cookies (Cuccidati) on this small piece of board. If this piece of wood could talk, it could tell you stories that will make your hair stand straight up. When the women were making those delicious cookies, they didn't want to be bothered. They'd say, "Get out of here. We're busy." But there was one exception. One Holiday Seaon, I offered to help them roll the cookies, and I've been hooked ever since. And the women never told me to "Get out of here" again. I wouldn't take a thousand dollars for this piece of wood.
